The Anti-Grounding cone / Safety Frame / Look-Ahead is very important safety feature of any ECDIS system. This is what looks ahead and around the vessel for any dangers, warnings and cautions and gives the user an alarm, highlight or both to advise of any upcoming dangers.

Everyone onboard that uses the ECDIS should know how to setup the Anti-Grounding cone / Safety Frame / Look-Ahead as this is a key part of the ECDIS. They should also know the settings that are being used. This might have to be changed during the voyage depending on conditions and were the vessel e.g. openwater, Costol, Pilotage.
