Routes Introduction

The principles of Passage planning remain unchanged.

The navigator must still research the route as normal and utilise all available charts and publications as necessary.

The navigator must decide which route is to be taken.

The fundamentals of passage planning remain the same:

  1. Appraisal
  2. Planning
  3. Execution
  4. Monitoring

The APPRAISAL and PLANNING elements overlap, as do the EXECUTION and MONITORING elements.

Remember, source data diagram or CATZOCs must be considered during the appraisal.
